Market surveillance

Market surveillance is an independent monitoring body within the NGM exchange. The primary purpose of Market surveillance is to maintain confidence on the market. This is done through continuous controls and review of the flow of information in the market. The objective is for all investors to be able to base their investments on the same information.

In connection with the Transparency Directive being implemented on July 1 2007, the NGM exchange must monitor the issuers to ensure that they meet the requirements on financial accounting in relation to the rules concerning regular financial information. This expanded supervision falls under Market Monitoring and is carried out by an especially composed review committee comprising staff from both NGM and external accounting experts. The purpose of the monitoring is to protect investors and promote public confidence in the securities market.
